Clendenin Law Breakers on a Rampage
Jan 21st, 2009, 8:07pm

I keep reading more and more about this “mini” truck the town of Clendenin has purchased and it’s making me SICK!  Does the Clendenin Town Council not think before they act?  Why would anyone buy something they cant use?  They are spending hours after hours passing ordnances that shouldn’t even be necessary.  Why didn’t they go out and get a small used truck that can legally be used on the roads?

It seems that Mike Stout was the leader in this adventure of his “mini me” truck.  He has years of experience in town government and then he goes and does something so out there.  It looks like the bad habits of the Clendenin Mayor are beginning to rub off on Clendenin Town Council.

Its bad enough we are wasting so much time passing these useless ordnances, but the Clendenin town government is still allowing this truck to cruise around the streets.  Doesn’t the Clendenin Police Department have an obligation to stop lawbreakers?  Are they turning a blind eye to these illegal activities because it’s the bosses that are breaking the laws?  Maybe we need to get the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department or the West Virginia State Police need to be called in to Clendenin to actually enforce the laws.

Another question…even if we pass an ordnance in the Town of Clendenin, can the truck be used on county and state roads?  Does this vehicle have insurance in the event it is involved in an accident?  Is there anyone else that is bothered by Clendenin Town Council and the Mayor of Clendenin doing whatever they want?  Does anyone see a problem with the Clendenin Police Department allowing these laws to be broken?

Its not a surprise to me that the clendenin police department is picking and choosing what laws they want to enforce.  They like to sit around and catch speeders because its like shooting fish in a barrel.  BUT…they close their eyes when they want to.

I overheard a council member at Gino’s a couple of days ago complaining about local newspapers and even this message board.  “I am tired of getting raked over the coals” was one statement I heard.  WOW!!!  If you are tired of it, QUIT DOING STUPID THINGS!  I am so happy to have newspapers and websites reporting on what is going on in Clendenin.  This is how many of us stay informed on what is going on in our town.  If the mayor, council, or the police department disagrees with the reports, then they should get involved and give us details on why they make these crazy decisions.  They can write letters to the editor or reply to messages on this site.

Below are excerpts from an article in the Charleston Gazette, published on February 4, 2009.

The state Division of Motor Vehicles does not register or title the mini trucks as motor vehicles, said DMV Deputy Commissioner Steve Dale.  The vehicles are solely for farm use and are not permitted on two-lane roadways or Interstate highways.

"There is some interest in allowing some limited use of those vehicles on the road," Dale said. "I would anticipate that there would be legislation [introduced] during the 2009 session."

A joint judiciary subcommittee of the Legislature studied the issue last year, and the same discussion is going on in other states, he said.  Last year, about 10 states allowed limited use of mini trucks on some roadways. No states allow the vehicles on Interstates.

Basically, the mini trucks are allowed in the same places all-terrain vehicles are allowed.
"They're not imported into this country as motor vehicles," Dale said. "They're actually imported as off-road farm equipment."

Mike Stout the man who tried to sell truck that town didn't own has messed up once again buying a mini truck. Why did he pay 7,000 of tax payer money on a used one when you can buy a new one for 4,800. First of all it such have never been bought to begin with. He said in council meeting it was to never leave city limits. What does Mike Stout do he drives it out of city limits. What a joke This guy wants to be mayor. He can't even run street dept. Snow is not removed from side streets because Mr. Stout does not have anything to remove snow with. All the money that has been wasted and nothing to remove snow that is so sad. Look like Mayor Ore's Yes Man has really messed up with this mini truck. So many people are mad over this lets remember with voting time coming up and lets keep Mike Stout out of any office he may run for!

All that's left of Clendenin soon in the future is going to BE OFFROAD if you people don't stop complaining about pathetic and trivial items such as these.  Find something better to do with your time.

Poor Thad & Otto Stanley sweeping those poor streets with a push broom, and a wheel barrell. They would have killed for that mini truck. I'm sure it could be used for some light duty. Let the police use it to patrol in, then when the mini truck driver see's a challenger of a race car, call one of the twin turbo cruisers.
